Nothing like the prospect of a fresh start (i.e. the new year), to get your butt into gear and do what you’ve been putting off for months or perhaps years. That’s right, it’s time to declutter your makeup collection! You’re either a) excited at the thought of passing on products that are unloved/binning items that have been breeding bacteria for yonks; or b) you’re hyperventilating at the thought of letting go of your precious makeup. Whatever may be the case, here are 5 tips that will make this arduous task a lot easier! It just takes some quick decision making and a dash of ruthlessness.
Hard to believe 2017 is around the corner. Another year done and dusted, another year of amazing beauty discoveries – and I couldn’t keep them all to myself! I always look forward to summing up of what I’ve loved the most throughout the year, and if I can do one last bit of enabling and recommend some ace products, then I’m all for it. Before we begin I thought I’d clarify that these aren’t all products released in 2016, just products that I purchased/gave more love to in the year. Now let’s get into it – grab a cuppa, it’s a long one!
If there is one thing I appreciate, it’s a product that can offer you multiple uses. That superstar in your handbag that you can rely on in different scenarios and beauty needs. Naturally, when a new makeup product has ‘multi-tasking’ in its name, I am all ears – show me what you’ve got! Add the word ‘perfecting’ and now you’ve got me really excited. This was the case when the new BECCA Cosmetics Multi-Tasking Perfecting Powders* arrived at my doorstep. BECCA says you can use them as a foundation, to highlight and contour, set your face or to touch it up on the go. Are they really a ‘do-it-all’?
You said it would be different this year, that you would be organised. That you’d beat the rush, the frantic search for a car park, the passive-aggressive elbow bumping. Alas, it’s Christmas Eve – reality sinks in – you have exactly 24 hours to finish your shopping for the happiest day of the year, yet you’re stressed and struggling, and wishing Christmas didn’t come so quickly… and you love Christmas! If this sounds awfully familiar, you need a game plan – and I’m here to help. Ten gift ideas for the beauty lover in your life, you’re welcome.
True: The beauty world goes into a frenzy when Kat Von D Beauty releases hot new products. In the past year, however, there have only been two products that really caught my eye. New liquid lipstick shade? I’m so over the matte liquid lipstick trend. Super colourful eyeshadow palette? Not my cup of tea. New concealer and setting powder? Yes, come to mama! Those are two items I am always willing to try. Enter the Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Crème & Setting Powder. One I’m in love with, the other didn’t exceed my expectations.
I’ve been a terrible blogger – I missed my September favourites… tsk tsk! In saying that, I probably didn’t have too much to share, so this month’s favourites will be a combination of things I’ve been loving in the past two months. Is anyone else excited for the end of the year? Christmas and New Years are just around the corner, and November is my birthday month! I’m working on a gift-guide, so keep an eye out. Now, let’s get into the favourites!
Ah, Paris. Known as the City of Lights, but also as a city to fall in love with – and how could you not, with its twinkling lights and eternal elegance. Can so much beauty be captured in a scent? If anyone could do it – and do it well – it’s French fashion powerhouse YSL. After all, they know a thing or two about Paris. Riding off their Black Opium success, YSL’s newest offering Mon Paris*, offers a modern warm sweetness that is sure to enamour.
Although blushes are my favourite makeup item to collect, I’d have to say concealers come a close second. It doesn’t matter how many I have – as soon as a new concealer comes out I “need” to try it! So yes, they’re a little weakness of mine and I’m in constant need to try different formulas… Anyone else? Naturally, I was over the moon when I received the BECCA Aqua Luminous Perfecting Concealers* and I had to immediately put them to the test. It’s been a couple of weeks and I am ready to share my thoughts. Do you really need them? Read on to find out!
It’s August favourites time, and this month I have a nice mixture of new and old products I have been loving. Is anyone else getting ridiculously excited to start seeing all the holiday collections? I can’t wait! Now let’s see what’s made it in my favourites this month.
I was never a fan of stick foundations. I remember trying one in my early teenage years (when I started to get interested in makeup), and it wasn’t a good experience. The result was dry, cakey, just a big fat nope. So from then on, I instantly assumed all stick foundations would be the same and never bothered with them again. Not too different from when someone offers you food and you tell them “no thank you, I don’t like it”, but in reality you haven’t tried it before (sound familiar?). Lately I’m all for trying things I would have previously refused. Blame it on the triangular shape, its gorgeous hand-bag friendly packaging, or the fact that it’s from Hourglass… but I had to have the Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick!
