Christmas is only 10 sleeps away – yet it feels like it was June just yesterday! I’ve been meaning to do this a little while ago, but time just got away (much like the year did!) but you know what they say… better late than never! If you’re struggling for last-minute ideas, then hopefully this helps – I have put together my top picks of beautiful gifts you could spoil a fellow beauty lover with. I know I’d be happy with any of these under my tree. I have a few bits that only my US readers will be able to access, and some Australian beauty bits only we can access, but all exciting stuff non-the-less!
For the Lipstick Lover
2015 has been the year of the liquid lipstick, so I thought it would only be suitable to start off with some amazing options I’ve been loving.
Kat Von D Lolita Lip Duo, USD $19.50
I feel like I am teasing my fellow Aussie makeup addicts with this one as it’s only available through the Kat Von D website, but if you can get your hands on it, it makes for a great stocking stuffer. You get Lolita (chestnut rose, also known as the “bad batch”) and the new Lolita II (terracotta nude) which will be released in the new year.
Stila Eternally Yours Liquid Lipstick Set, $57
A fantastic set for the liquid lipstick lover, or for one that is just starting out. You have nude, pink and bold shades, covering all bases. These are a little bit more drying than Kat Von D liquid lipsticks, but they do last all day. Unfortunately I can’t find these on the Mecca website anymore (I’m so sorry!) and I’m not sure if it’s coming back online, but I believe some stores will still have it, and luckily I purchased a set to giveaway on my Instagram very soon, so keep an eye out!
This up and coming Australian brand focuses solely on lip products, and their liquid lipsticks are being shown a lot of love by beauty lovers lately – and for good reason. They are creamy and super comfortable to wear, and last a decent amount of time on the lips. You can purchase them individually, or the whole collection of 5 shades for $80.
Bite Beauty Discover Set, USD $55
If you’ve been hearing all the rave about Bite Beauty but never got to try it, then this set will satisfy your curiosity. It comes with an array of their most popular products, giving you a real taste for the brand, with a value of USD $110 (and trust me, you will want more!). You get: Agave Lip Mask in Clear (mini size), Line & Define Primer in Clear (mini size), Mini Matte Crème Lip Crayon in Glacé, 5 x Lush Lip Wipes, Luminous Crème Lipstick in Pepper (full size), Lush Fruit Lip Gloss Honey (full size), High Pigment Pencil in Pomegranate (full size) and a cute Bite mirror. This is available online through Sephora (US) but I’ve heard it may be reaching Australian shores soon – late Christmas present, perhaps?
For the Palette Lover
The shade range and pigmentation of this palette are so on point. It comes with 10 warm-toned hues (matte and shimmer finishes) that allow you to create an array of looks. No makeup addict can ever have enough eyeshadows, so you know you’re onto a winner!
Tarte Bling It On Amazonian Clay Blush Palette, $59
This baby is available at Sephora stores in Australia, just not online – if you are a Tarte newbie and can get your hands on it, then I think it’s definitely worth it. It comes with 5 shades (matte, satin and shimmery finishes) and is great value for money, considering a single blush is $36.
Guerlain Ors et Marveilles Eye & Cheek Palette*, $114
If you’re wanting to spoil someone special – mum, sister, best friend, then there is nothing like Guerlain and its limited edition holiday collection ‘Neiges et Merveilles’ to do so. Especially this stunning palette which houses two compartments – one with five lustrous shadows in brown, champagne and gold hues, and the other with four matte and shimmery pink blushes. The gold compact radiates luxury and would make a great travel palette. Available from David Jones.
Laura Mercier’s baked powders are known to be some of the best, and this palette allows you to sample some of her popular shades – Highlight 01, Bronze 03 and Ritual (a blush/bronzer hybrid). The texture of these powders is so smooth and bendable, and the mini face powder brush is actually quite nice!
Laura Mercier Matte to Metal Caviar Stick Collection, $65
These eyeshadow sticks are cult favourites, and the set gives you 6 beautiful shades in both metallic and matte finishes to play with. A full size stick is $39, so this set is a great way of trying out a bunch of different shades.
I could only find the face trio online, but both sets are available at David Jones (I purchased mine in-store just a week and a half ago!).
Couldn’t find this mini online, but I grabbed mine in-store a week and a half ago also so I’m sure it’s still around! I thought the gorgeous pink and gold Eiffel Tower packaging made it the perfect stocking stuffer or Christmas tree decoration.
This set includes two festive shades – Funny Bunny and Comet Closer, plus three free midi rings. Super cute!
A stunning brush set that includes five face brushes and three eye brushes, plus a luxe clutch and sturdy cardboard brush holder. I’ve never felt anything so soft in my life! These brushes are definitely worth the money, and you just can’t go wrong with Zoeva; the quality is incredible and the brushes will last a very long time.
A collector’s edition that contains five brushes and a white clutch. It includes a multi-task brush, a tapered foundation brush (exclusive), an angled highlighter brush (exclusive), a base shadow brush and fine liner brush. It’s a great set for those who are starting out, and even those who already have a full brush collection – because you can never have enough makeup brushes!
Natura Siberica Oblepikha Body Scrub & Body Butter*, $19.99 & $22.99
This all-natural brand offers a range of organic body and hair products based on wild harvested herbs and natural ingredients exclusively sourced from Siberia. I’ve recently tried their Oblepikha Body Scrub and Body Butter and have fallen in love with both of these products – they make my skin feel incredible and smell delicious. They are great options for those who favour products made with natural ingredients, or just as a pampering treat which will come in handy for the post-Christmas detox! Available from Chemist Warehouse.
Philosophy Snow Angel*, $30
Philosophy always release the cutest Christmas stuff! This 3-in-1 product is a real shower treat, and it can be used as a shampoo, shower gel and bubble bath. It’s a nice, fresh scent (think of snow) and the pearlescent colour is beautiful.
For Someone Who Has It All
I wanted to include this candle trio because we all have that one person who has everything and we never know what to buy for them. In my eyes, you can never have enough candles in your back up stash, and Glasshouse happen to make some of the best! For Christmas this year they released three festive scents – Winter Wonderland (citrus & mossy wood), White Christmas (cedar leaf & fruity clove) and Night Before Christmas (dancing sugar plums). I can honestly say I love all three scents and the vibrant red and gold packaging makes it a wonderful gift you don’t even need to wrap.
I hope you enjoyed my picks for Christmas and that it gives you some last-minute ideas. What are you hoping to find under the tree this year?
