It’s been a while since I’ve shared a bin full of empty products on the blog. I suck at remembering to keep my empties, but I have managed to stack up a little basket of products. There is skincare, makeup, and even a deodorant… yep! I love reading empties posts, and finding out if people would re-purchase those products, so I hope you enjoy snooping in my beauty trash!
La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo +: This was my third tube and I’m onto my fourth. It’s an anti-acne, corrective serum that helps congested skin. It has a gel-like consistency and can be used all over morning and night, or it can be used as a spot treatment. I like using this when my skin is needing a little helping hand. It really helps de-clog my pores, and reduce redness of any active blemishes. I can’t say it’s helped with keeping an even skin tone and reducing marks all by itself, as I use glycolic acid in my skin care routine. Highly recommend this! Repurchase? Always!
Skinstitut Moisture Defence Normal Skin Moisturiser: So sad I have run out of this! This moisturiser is the perfect all-rounder. I’m a big fan of moisturisers that can be used day and night – in the morning before makeup, and at night after serum. Moisture Defence feels very lightweight on the skin, but at the same time it’s extremely hydrating and nourishing. It works wonders on my combination skin as it absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave a greasy residue. Repurchase? Yes.
Mario Badescu Dryin Lotion: This cult product has a huge following, but I’m not sure I’m a fan. Having read a billion rave reviews, I expected miracles. Perhaps that was my problem, I had very high expectations. This product didn’t make a difference to existing blemishes, if anything it made them worse. My not-too-crazy blemishes would turn into huge monsters the next day… all I wanted was the opposite effect! I’ve read this works best in the early stages of a spot, before it surfaces. It didn’t do much for me then either. Repurchase? Nope!
Rexona Clinical Protection Summer Strength Deodorant: Yes, I am including a deodorant! Why? Because it’s the best deodorant I’ve come across and I figured I should tell you about it. For a while it seemed like most deodorants weren’t working on me, until I spotted this. It’s a cream formula with a very pleasant scent. It does amazing at keeping my underarm area dry, whether it’s summer or winter. Repurchase? Of course!
Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer: My relationship with this product has been interesting. When I first purchased it I wasn’t crazy about it – I didn’t understand why so many people loved it. I put it back in my drawer and forgot about it, until earlier this year. Picture this: summer, humidity, makeup moving around my face. I knew I needed something to make things stick into place, so I decided to drag this out of the shadows, and the rest is history. It does a fantastic job at smoothing the skin before foundation, and everything just stays in place. I also find it does wonders for my combination skin, as it helps keep my t-zone matte for longer. Repurchase? I already have!
Benefit Gimme Brow: I had this in my last empties post, and I probably always will. If you haven’t heard of this product, it’s a tinted brow gel with fibres that helps lock hairs into place while adding volume. I absolutely love it – it’s my HG brow product! I have tried cheaper alternatives, but I think Benefit’s offering is still the best, therefore worth the splurge. Can’t wait to go out and get one with the new sleek packaging. Repurchase? Yes.
Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara: One of my favourite high end mascaras. This does a beautiful job at separating and adding length to the lashes. I really like the brush as well, because it gets every single little lash – both on bottom and top. It doesn’t flake, it doesn’t smudge, and holds a curl really well. Repurchase? Yes.
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara: Sigh. This mascara is one of the biggest disappointments ever! The positives are that I love the shape of the brush, the packaging is super cute, and it does have a nice volumising effect. However, the negatives outweigh the positives. It smudges like crazy, it flakes all over my face… I tried two different tubes and had the same difficulties with both. If anyone’s had these problems, please let me know if the waterproof version is any better! Repurchase? No.
Dior Addict Lip Glow: This is such a lovely (and very expensive) lip balm! It’s supposed to react with your natural pH levels to create a unique rosy shade. I’m sad I’ve finished this up because I love it so much! Dior’s Lip Glow has a gorgeous texture; it’s light weight, very moisturising and I liked to wear it under lipsticks, too. It left my lips feeling so soft and hydrated. I ran out of this a while ago and couldn’t bring myself to spend $50 to replace it, but I think I will. I miss having it in my handbag. Repurchase? Highly likely.
