The beauty community went crazy when photos of the beautiful Hourglass bronzers emerged. If you follow me on Instagram (you better!), you would have seen a few photos of this stunning bronzer. Since posting the images, there hasn’t been a day I haven’t been asked how I feel about this product; so after vigorous testing and collecting my thoughts, here I am. In short, I love it. Period. Feel free to skip the rest of the review… just kidding!
I purchased the darker shade of the two, Radiant Bronze Light, ($65) as it’s said to be best suited to medium to dark skin tones (for reference, I am MAC NC35/NARS Punjab). It is a mixture of the Ambient Lighting Powder in Radiant Light fused with a warm bronze shade. From the moment I opened the compact, the beautiful marbled powders took my breath away. This baby is a work of art!
From the comments I’ve been getting, I’ve noticed a lot of people are scared of taking the plunge and purchasing these bronzers due to the way they swatch – glittery and borderline orange. Although I’ve only tried one shade, and the gold shimmer particles can be detected in the pan, it doesn’t look glittery on the face at all, and it’s definitely not orange! This bronzer is the closest thing to a natural, sun-kissed glow you will ever get – sans the disco ball effect and unwanted pore emphasis. The renowned Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder quality is consistent in this product; it is super soft, blendable and pigmented. It lasts a good 8-9 hours on the skin before I start to notice any fading.
I’ve been loving building it up and wearing it on its own as a bronzer/blush hybrid; and on days I wear a combination of matte bronzer and blush, I’ve been using Radiant Bronze Light as a blush topper. I skip highlighter completely when I wear it. If you’re someone who can be lazy from time to time, and don’t mind skipping a few steps in your morning routine, then this is a great product to have in your arsenal of bronzers!
- Provides a healthy, lit-from-within glow
- Super buttery soft texture
- Great lasting power
- Blends like a dream.
Things to consider:
- It costs a pretty penny
- Those with oily skin may find this imparts too much glow
- If you’re into matte, cooler toned bronzers then this is not for you.
- Apply with a big, fluffy brush
- Build it up slowly – less is more!
The Ambient Lighting Bronzer is everything I had imagined it would be. If you love their gorgeous Ambient Lighting powders and blushes, you’ll definitely love the bronzers. Still unsure? Go into Mecca and get them to try them on you!
In terms of product performance, I’ve got nothing bad to say about it. Although both shades Luminous Bronze Light and Radiant Bronze Light appear to be quite similar, I think they’d look beautiful on most skin tones. The uniqueness and quality of this bronzer makes it a product I’d absolutely recommend.
