If there’s one thing that I’ve missed, it’s fries (I’m on a diet, hot chippies are my weakness). I’ve also missed blogging and regularly posting on Instagram – it’s been a while, guys! The past few months have been crazy. Three months ago I moved back to Melbourne, and life has been overwhelming. I realised that no matter what, I need to stop losing focus on my hobbies and doing the things that I love. It’s so easy to put yourself last, don’t do it girl! Anyway, no better way to get back into the swing of things than to share my beauty favourites! Let’s get started.
If you’ve been here before, you will now know two things about me – 1. I love potato, and 2. I love blush. I’ve sung my praises about the Antonym Baked Blushes and my latest love is the shade Rose. It’s a beautiful swirl of warm pink, champagne and bronze. Mix them all together, and it’s the most gorgeous natural glow on my olive skin tone. It’s luminous, easy to blend, buildable, and certified organic. I want every single shade!
Sick of seeing warm brown-nude lipsticks everywhere? I really hope you said no. I’m not, in fact I’m always searching for a new variation of nude to add to my collection. In the past month the two that I’ve consistently reached for are the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Very Victoria (an old fave), and the Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo in Influencer (a recent purchase). Both lipsticks are perfect for everyday wear; they are super lightweight and comfortable. Very Victoria is a rosy brown shade with a matte finish, but the formula is very creamy and moisturising. If you want a matte lipstick that just glides on, this is it. The Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo is a hydrating, plumping lipstick that also glides with ease, and doesn’t emphasise lip lines or dryness. It’s super balmy and semi-opaque, so you can wear it on the sheerer side or build it up. Once again, I want them ALL.
I remember the days when I owned two lipsticks and thought primers were a useless gimmick… sometimes change is a good thing. The two on rotation were the Shu Uemura Stage Performer Block:Booster Protective Moisture Primer* and the BECCA Cosmetics First Light Priming Filter*. Shu Uemura’s is fantastic because it protects the skin against environmental aggressors, hydrates and provides SPF 50 sun protection. It’s great at smoothing out the skin and improving any dry spots prior to applying your foundation, allowing for a smoother application.
The star of the show, however, is the BECCA primer. You know those people who wake up early, drink warm water with lemon, possibly followed by a straight shot of chlorophyl and go out for a 10km run? Me neither, but if I did, I imagine they would use this primer. It awakens, refreshes and evens out the skin beautifully! It’s hydrating and makes my complexion look radiant while combatting any dullness. Oh and it smells citrusy – so nice!
This palette needs no introduction, but if you’ve been living under a rock, it’s the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette. So hyped, much amazing. I bought this upon my first visit to Sephora when I moved to Melbourne and risked my life for it, but it was worth it (literally – my partner wanted to kill me). Long story short – the shades are warm and fuzzy, you require absolutely no skills to blend them and you need this palette.
Does your skin freak out with the change of the seasons? Mine certainly suffered when I moved from tropical, hot and humid North Queensland, to dry and much cooler Victoria. What I realised quickly was that I needed some good thermals and a cute new scarf. I also realised that my previously combination skin was more on the normal to dry side and required a boost of hydration. I received the Kiehl’s Pure Vitality Skin Renewing Cream* before departing NQ, and at first I thought “gosh, this would be too heavy for my skin” but my intuition told me to keep it. Always trust your intuition. It came in super handy – it contains Ginseng Root for cell renewal and Manuka Honey to strengthen and smooth lines and texture. It’s very rich and therefore not super lightweight on the skin, so I only use it at night time. I’m not sure it’s done much for my texture but I always wake up with brighter, glowing skin that feels nourished. It says it’s for all skin types but if you’re on the oilier side of things then it’s best to stay away.
Another new skincare love is the Bobbi Brown Skin Clarifier Pore & Oil Control Remedy*. Yes, I realise I just said my skin has been a lot drier but unfortunately the sudden change meant some pesky little break outs came out to visit. This majestic concoction is made up of Salicylic Acid and Manuka, Seabuckthorn and Rosehip oils. A couple of drops saw my blemishes relax and slowly vanish. I also noticed it helped reduce the appearance of my pores and any other redness and irritations. A welcome addition into my routine!
Being back in the big smoke means being able to see my oldest and bestest friends, and not missing out on celebrating any of their important milestones. I’ve had a lot of special occassions to go to lately where full glam was required, and the Ardell Wispies Lashes did not let me down. They’re easy to apply, comfortable to wear and always attract compliments. Love.
