Hello everyone, it’s been a while! I’ve been a terrible blogger in the month of October, can’t believe how quickly it got away and how little I managed to do on here. I’ve missed you guys! It’s not only been incredibly busy for me, I’ve also gotten into a bit of a funk – not only on my blog but on Instagram too. Lately I felt like I’ve been putting too much pressure on myself and it ended up affecting me a little bit more than I anticipated. Hopefully things will start to look up this month!
Enough boring blah blah, let’s get onto the important bits. I don’t have too many new things to talk about as I have been super good at keeping my wallet shut, but what I do have I love! Let’s get started.
As mentioned early in the month, the Charlotte Tilbury Air Brush Flawless Finish Powder in Medium has been a welcomed product in my stash. It appears quite light for my medium complexion and isn’t translucent but it doesn’t change the colour of my chosen base at all nor does it add coverage. It does manage to set my foundation or CC cream incredibly – it removes any shine but doesn’t make the skin look ultra matte – it still looks like skin! It also delivers on the ‘flawless finish’ promise, as it does actually blur my pores and imperfections quite well. I have already made a generous dent into this powder as I have barely put it down in October – totally worth the money in my opinion!
Next up is the Zoeva 110 Face Shape Brush, another product I’ve been using every single day. Although it’s supposed to be a contouring brush, I’ve never used it for that purpose – I love it to blend out my under eye concealer. I have become one of those people who is too lazy to use their fingers ha! It’s quite soft and dense, so I don’t quite swipe and drag the product around. Rather, I slightly dab the concealer, effectively working it into the skin (without applying too much pressure – this is a sensitive area!). This ensures the coverage stays where I need it the most – my zombie eye bags.
When it comes to my eyebrows, I can always count on Benefit Gimme Brow – it’s a holy grail of mine and the easiest and quickest thing to run through my eyebrows every morning! This one is nearly finished, and I already have a back up waiting to be opened up. I’m lucky in the eyebrow department – all I need is for the hairs to be set into place, and to add a tiny bit of a tint/volume that slightly fills any small gaps. It works brilliantly for this purpose, my eyebrows do not budge at all and it’s waterproof. The only gripe I have with this product is how expensive it is for the tiny amount of product you get… I am looking for other alternatives – please let me know if you have any!
I am constantly switching up my blush stash/discovering new loves. Late August I finally caved and ordered the Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso (a cult favourite) and let’s just say I totally get the hype surrounding it! It’s so soft, easy to blend and lasts on the cheeks throughout the entire day. The shade is quite flattering on a large range of skin tones; on me it’s a beautiful light peach shade that looks really natural. It goes with everything – highly recommend it!
I already reviewed Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop and professed my love, and I’m happy to report we’re still going strong (or should I say, my highlight is). It’s been the only highlighter I’ve given my attention to all month and I predict this to be the case through November. It’s a gorgeous peachy gold shade that suits almost everyone.
The scent I’ve worn non-stop is Jimmy Choo Illicit – full review here. Seriously guys – smell this stuff when you can, it’s incredible! Sweet, warm, classy but sexy. So decadent, plus a gorgeous bottle to boot. I’d be adding this to the Christmas list for sure!
My sister went to Japan and all I asked her to buy me was a Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, as mine was a couple of years old and not quite doing the job like it used to. This is the best eyelash curler for my eye shape – it’s so comfortable and easy to use, plus it does quite the number on my lashes. I’ve actually been skipping mascara a lot this month, just a quick curl and I’m out the door.
Last but not least, I have been pleasantly surprised by the Sephora Gel Gloss Ultra Brilliant Ultra Shine Lip Gel* in the shade Pin-Up Pink – wow, longer name next time please, Sephora. I was never really a lip gloss kind of gal, but I guess now you could say I am. This lip gloss is so nice and I’ve been reaching for it non-stop – so weird for a daily lipstick wearer! It is hydrating and gives the lips a nice gel-like finish; it’s lightweight and not too sticky, and most importantly it doesn’t make your lips feel tacky nor does it leave that gunky white residue some glosses tend to give… gross. I’ll definitely consider buying a full size tube once I run out!
Link me to your October favourites posts below or tell me what you’ve been loving!
Very much looking forward to reconnecting with everyone.
