What’s your go-to fragrance? Not necessarily the one that you are currently obsessed with; but more so the one that you can always wear no matter the occasion, time of day, season or mood you’re in. For me that fragrance is Chloé Eau de Parfum*. Chloé has been around for a very long time and is worn by a lot of women, but that doesn’t make it any less noteworthy. It’s clean, it’s fresh, it’s feminine and sweet without being too youthful. It’s a classic for a reason.
Strobing, colour correcting… everyone’s moved on to the next popular thing in the beauty world, yet I am here still talking about killer cheekbones. Sue me! I’ve been trying this one product out for quite some time and I’ve got a lot to say about it, you feel? I had been eyeing the Marc Jacobs #InstaMarc Light Filtering Contour Palette for a very, very, very long time. I emphasised the ‘very’ because it felt like I’d been lusting for this product forever; when I’d go to finally purchase it, it would be out of stock for a few weeks, then by the time it’d come back I’d talk myself out of it. Eventually it got gifted to me for my birthday in November and I haven’t really used anything else for contouring since. Crazy stuff, considering I had fully devoted myself to the Kat Von D Share & Light Palette.
We all love a good multi-tasker, but when it comes to beauty products, generally I gear myself for disappointment – they couldn’t possibly live up to all those claims. Well, I have put aside the sceptic in me and have been trying out the newly revamped Sally Hansen Complete Care 7-in-1 Nail Treatment* as part of a Beauty Directory trial. Yep, 7-in-1 sounds very promising, doesn’t it? But when it comes to my nails, I need all the help I can get. Flaky, dull, thin, very visible ridges. Tick, tick, tick. I’m the perfect candidate. Could this be the answer?
Wow, wow, wow. Can a cheek palette get any more beautiful than this? I feel like I am borderline
obsessive repetitive when praising Becca’s highlighters and blushes, so I will try to condense (in a few overused words from the blogosphere) how magical they are: creamy, super-pigmented, buttery, blendable, dreamy. If you haven’t had the pleasure of trying them as of yet, then the Becca Afterglow Palette* is the perfect way to do so – featuring three Shimmering Skin Perfectors and two Mineral Blushes, you will totally get the hype.
I love this time of the year because I get to see everyone’s yearly favourites round-ups – the bits and pieces were staples in everyone’s makeup routines, and what were the favourite discoveries that were uncovered. I decided to join in on the fun and share my own – some of these will not come as a surprise to you, while others I’ve been semi-secretly loving but just haven’t had a chance to share yet. The products that made the cut weren’t necessarily released in 2015, rather I got my hands on them in 2015.
Welcome 2016! I hope everyone had a wonderful break with their loved ones. I am still in denial about the fact that December is no longer here – anyone else? It all came to an abrupt end. Regardless, I can’t wait to round up my Top Beauty Discoveries of 2015; but first things first – I had to share my December favourites. Both November and December had me doing quite a bit of shopping, so there were lots of new bits and pieces introduced into my routine, and I was pleased to find some absolute gems. Couldn’t keep them to myself, now could I?!
It’s the final edition of Marie Claire’s The Parcel subscription box for the year, and what a way to end it… My experience with the service started off amazingly well if you remember how pleased I was with the Autumn Edit, but from then on the following two boxes I received (the Winter and 20th Anniversary Editions) were lacking in the wow factor; sure, they were fantastic value for the amount you pay, but they failed to blow me out of the water. I’m happy to say the Summer Edit has been one of the best boxes I’ve received – it’s breaming with exciting things I cannot wait to try out!
We all have weaknesses when it comes to makeup. Mine happens to be blushes, and it’s especially hard for me to turn down a beautiful blush palette. When holiday releases started to become available, I promised I would only allow myself one purchase, and without a doubt the Tarte Bling It On Amazonian Clay Blush Palette had to be it. Like many, I missed out on previous years and I didn’t want to live with major FOMO (fear of missing out)! A Sephora VIB sale later, I secured this baby and so far I’m very happy with it.
Christmas is only 10 sleeps away – yet it feels like it was June just yesterday! I’ve been meaning to do this a little while ago, but time just got away (much like the year did!) but you know what they say… better late than never! If you’re struggling for last-minute ideas, then hopefully this helps – I have put together my top picks of beautiful gifts you could spoil a fellow beauty lover with. I know I’d be happy with any of these under my tree. I have a few bits that only my US readers will be able to access, and some Australian beauty bits only we can access, but all exciting stuff non-the-less!
Wow… my first The Empties post was four months ago – about time I emptied out my trash again! I feel like there is a lot of good stuff to talk about – lots of things I’ve already repurchased and will probably continue to repurchase until something better comes along. I’m also feeling so proud I managed to finish some makeup bits this time around too – some hurt the pocket to repurchase but I feel achieved non-the-less. So, let’s get started!
