When Sephora gives you 15% off… you take that 15% percent off – no questions asked. And so, I did. The “hit list” was meticulously put together, analysed, and over-thought. I wanted to have no regrets, and so far, I’m very happy with my fab 5! By no means did I go crazy, but I managed to get my hands on some gorgeous products I’d been coveting for so long. And the best part – I get to try some new brands.
Let me tell you, (and if you’re a fellow Aussie, then you totally get it) I absolutely abhor the fact that I don’t live anywhere near the lone Sephora in Sydney, so my only choice for getting my paws on highly coveted US brands is to use a forwarding service. I took this opportunity to also do a ColourPop order (soz, bank account), but that’s coming in a different post.
I should probably stop rambling and show you what I got, since that’s what you’re here for!
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Radiant Bronze Light, USD $50, AUD $65
Angels sang when I opened this. Hourglass products are just so aesthetically pleasing, and the marbled effect on this one is just stunning. I don’t have a lot to say about this bronzer as yet, other than I saw photos on Instagram, it took my breath away. I am very lazy and in a rush most mornings, so I thought this would be a good product to add a little healthy glow post-BB cream. I will test this out in the next couple of weeks and post a full review as soon as I can!
Kat Von D Shade & Light Palette, USD $46, AUD $65
To be honest, I really wanted the Marc Jacobs highlight/contour duo #InstaMarc, but it’s usually sold out. I settled for this which is cheaper and has more product, and it was the one product I was most excited to get – I am addicted to contouring products at the moment (as a lot of us are) and this one is supposed to be fantastic. I figured my Australis contour kit wasn’t cutting it anymore (did it EVER?!) so it was time for an upgrade. I have a feeling we’re going to be great friends!
No. I don’t need this. I have two NARS Radiant Creamy Concealers to get through, plus a Maybelline Age Rewind and my MAC Pro Long Wear Concealer. That’s what I kept telling myself. BUT when Lily Pebbles, an avid NARS RCC lover says this shit is better, you go buy it. I don’t even know what possessed me to get Light Neutral, I usually get my shade right… but not this time. This is so light, it’s going to have to be a mega-highlighting under eye concealer.
Marc Jacobs New Nudes Sheer Lip Gel in 110 Role Play, USD $30, AUD $43
Stop – can we just take a moment to appreciate the packaging of this lipstick?! A lot of people on YouTube were saying it is ugly, but I personally dig it. It’s got this classy, retro look to it with a magnetised cap to boot; so luxurious. I chose the shade Role Play which is a rosy nude shade (looks peachy here due to the lighting) – a gorgeous neutral lipstick for every day wear. I am very interested to test out the ‘gel’ formula.
I am beginning to sense a pattern here… there has been a steady influx of warm, brown-undertone lipsticks make their way into my collection! Every shade in this range is quite warm and that doesn’t bother me – I love it. However, Bite Beauty’s new offering has got to be up there with the most ridiculous, gimmicky marketing ploys in the history of beauty releases. Let me explain – they claim each lipstick is hand cut, which gets rid of the waxy outer layer, making it extra creamy… right. This will be very interesting to apply – will keep you posted.
That concludes the Sephora VIP Spring Sale haul. Let me know what you’ve been hauling/if you tried any of these products/what you’d like a review on the most. Would love to hear from you!
