I was absolutely floored when I opened a package to see a black and white striped bag… us beauty addicts know damn well what that represents. Sephora Australia have released a list of their top notch, elite beauty products – the game changers, and I’m so excited to share them with you all! There are a few products in here I wasn’t too surprised to see as I know they’re incredible and I’ve adored them for so long; but there are also lots of new goodies I’ve been trying in the past week or so that I will share my first impressions on. Let’s see what made the team.
This is your standard, run-of-the mill silicone heavy primer. It does a nice enough job at filling out the pores, and it’s pretty affordable, too.
It Cosmetics Confidence In a Cream Moisturiser, $68
This moisturiser is said to be suitable for all skin types and is hypoallergenic, paraben free and cruelty free. This was It Cosmetics’ first skin care product and it was developed by plastic surgeons and dermatologists. Confidence In a Cream contains collagen, hyaluronic acid, peptides, ceramides, antioxidants and colloidal oatmeal to help minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while also improving skin texture. It’s also said that the collagen and hyaluronic acid will plump skin and instantly fill lines. It has a very faint calming scent, it’s quick-absorbing and feels so luxurious on the skin. It can be used day and night, although I use it as my night time moisturiser; and I wake up with super soft skin. The only gripe I have with it so far is the packaging – wish it came in a tube. As for its claims, it’s only been a couple of weeks so time will tell!
Alpha H Liquid Gold, $64
Another product I wasn’t surprised to see on the list – the multi-award winning Liquid Gold treatment has been my go-to chemical exfoliant (glycolic acid) for years. I absolutely swear by it! I use it twice a week and wake up with more even, plump skin. If there’s any congestion, it nicely clears it away. It’s great for refining pores and reducing any pigmentation, too. Love it and you will love it too.
I purchased my own Ultra HD foundation a few months ago, and to me it lives up to the hype. It gives the most beautiful satin, full-coverage finish that looks incredible in photos. It’s totally deserving of the ‘beauty changer’ title.
Cover FX Contour Kit, $70
I’ve used this kit a few times so far and I’m very pleased with it. The formula is emollient which makes it so easy to blend, but it has great lasting power. It’s not greasy or too slippy at all. I love the highlight shade 2 – it’s beautiful and even more glowing when layered with a powder highlight! The contour shades 3 and 4 run quite warm (I got the Medium contour kit), but they work well enough with my skin tone. I like to add dimension with warm shades such as the ones in this kit, but would still take a more grey-toned contour to carve the cheek bones.
No surprises seeing this product on the list. This CC cream is the perfect skin care meets makeup hybrid, offering some great anti-aging ingredients whilst delivering a flawless full coverage that doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. I won’t go on about it too much, as I’ve professed my love for it in detail (here) and mentioned it countless times. It’s now available on the Sephora website too, yay!!!
I was so excited to get to try this! I’ve used it a couple of times and I like it, but I don’t love it. It’s a super mousy texture and it’s lovely to apply, but it doesn’t completely set; even if you pat away the excess with a tissue, the product still moves. This is especially problematic with a bright shade such as red, as it’s high maintenance (it requires constant check ups!). But I can see where this product fits in the market. I think it’s a good one for those who can’t stand super-dry matte liquid lipsticks, as its mousy texture makes it very comfortable to wear.
Wow – I didn’t have any expectations on this mascara but it truly blew me away. It’s incredible! It adds length and volume without weighing down the lashes or making them clumpy. It lasts all day without smudging or flaking. So glad I got to try this.
*Gasp*. What a stunning eye shadow palette! I’m definitely a matte shadows kind of gal, and I’d been eyeing this out for the longest time. It isn’t my first time trying Kat Von D shadows as I recently tried one of the Shade & Light Quads in Rust (review here), but that didn’t blow me away. I haven’t tried this palette on the eyes yet (I know, shocking!) but already on the back of my hand and on my arm the shadows seemed quite smooth and buttery. I shall report back!
Believe it or not, this was my first ABH product… EVER! Shame, shame. Regardless, my introduction to the brand in the shape of this fantastic brow product has been so positive. One side is a retractable mechanical pencil, and the other is a spooley. The triangular shape is supposed to help outline and fill the brows. The Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil sports the same shape, but I find ABH’s offering so much nicer to use. The consistency of the product is just right – it’s not too hard, and it’s not too soft. It creates the perfect brow in just a matter of seconds with minimal work required. We are now besties and I can’t imagine a world without my Brow Definer.
So there you have it! Some solid products in the game-changing arsenal. Tell me – do you see any products that you already love? Anything you’d like to try?
