What’s your go-to fragrance? Not necessarily the one that you are currently obsessed with; but more so the one that you can always wear no matter the occasion, time of day, season or mood you’re in. For me that fragrance is Chloé Eau de Parfum*. Chloé has been around for a very long time and is worn by a lot of women, but that doesn’t make it any less noteworthy. It’s clean, it’s fresh, it’s feminine and sweet without being too youthful. It’s a classic for a reason.
Admittedly, it took me too long to discover this fragrance which was released in 2008, as I first tried it out only last year. I became enamoured with it from the very moment I opened the box. The silver-plated bottle is modest but elegant, and the hand-tied ribbon is a lovely touch.
The juice itself is a clear-cut floral accord with the star being roses. Its top notes are peony, freesia, and litchi; its middle notes are rose, lily of the valley and magnolia, and its base notes are amber and cedar. The scent opens a little bit fruity with lychee being quite prominent, followed by peony; and the dry-down becomes a little bit powdery and Chloé turns to honey-dipped roses. Throughout the course of the day, it turns ever-so-slighly woody, courtesy of the cedar.
The longevity is fantastic, lasting all day on both my clothes and skin. The sillage is moderate, making it office appropriate but it can still hold its own during a night out.
It’s a comforting scent and one that is appropriate in spring as it is winter. Chloé Eau De Parfum is effortless and timeless, and I will keep reaching for it for a very long time.
