There is no such thing as too much lipstick… lipgloss… lip balm. You feel? I’m glad we both agree. I sometimes have a big swatch session and pull out a mountain of lippies and sit on my bed admiring what I’ve managed to acquire in the past year or two (wow, I sound cool!). It also amuses me to see what I’ve collected in my handbag during the week – I often end up finding 5+ lip products – a girl needs options! So, I thought, why not share what I’ve been carrying around the most lately? Surprise, surprise – they’re mostly nudes.
The gorgeous Sorren from Young Mum Stuff (@youngmumstufff IG) and Bec from Beauty With Bec (@beautywithbec on IG) have joined me in sharing their lip product loves – make sure to head over to both of these lovely ladies’ blogs to see what their picks are! Marc Jacobs New Nudes Sheer Lip Gel Lipstick in Role Play – What a long name, for what’s arguably my top favourite at the moment. I can’t get enough of this gorgeous rose-mauve lipstick. I don’t want to give away too much because I want to save all the juicy details for a full review to come, but this lipstick is my perfect nude shade that feels comfortable and light to wear every day. It doesn’t emphasise any dryness (personally) and the texture is truly like a gel – it just glides on and leaves a lovely sheen. I don’t own anything else like this in my collection, and the gorgeous magnetised packaging adds a touch of luxury.
Bite Beauty Butter Cream Lipstick in Hazelnut – Mmmm this lipstick is beautiful! I need more. It’s super pigmented (one swipe offers plenty of opacity), it’s comfy to wear and has a satin finish. I find this to be really long wearing (6+ hours), despite it not claiming to be. I found the cut-off edge challenging at first, but I got used it. Bite Beauty lipsticks are definitely worth a try across the board!
Maybelline Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil in Nude Perfection – I’ve talked about this in my April favourites; for $9.95 a pop, you really cannot go wrong. The formula is matte, creamy, long-lasting and just a joy to wear. It doesn’t sit or emphasise lines or dry patches. This peachy nude shade is very close to MAC Velvet Teddy, so if you were wanting to try that one but couldn’t as it’s always sold out, then give this budget-friendly baby a go.
Bite Beauty Matte Lip Creme in Glacé – I have previously raved about the Matte Lip Cremes I own in a full review, and this one is my favourite shade. It’s that perfect mauve-pink that is so on trend at the moment. Again, a matte finish that is long wearing, creamy and comfortable; I am sure you are starting to see a trend in my choice of lipstick finish. I know $36 might seem steep (I agree), but they are worth every penny in my eyes.
YSL Volupte Tint-in-Oil in 06 Peach Me Love – I didn’t quite like this when I first but I’ve grown to love it. This was quite an innovation in the market, as it’s literally oil – I had never come across something like this before. It leaves a nice glossy finish, and although you do need to reapply every two to three hours, it does leave a pink stain and your lips looking conditioned and smooth. P.S: The spillage you see in the above photo is not a drill… I cried a little!
I hope you enjoyed having a peep at what I’ve been loving the most in the lip product department lately. You may be thinking – why is there no MAC? I think MAC lipsticks may deserve a post of their own, so keep an eye out for that! Share some of your loves with me below, and don’t forget to check Sorren’s and Bec’s posts!
