I am back with the second installment of my winter essentials; this time, focusing on skincare and fragrances. I could have picked many more items than what I have, but tried to keep it simple – these are a few of the things I’ve been enjoying and reaching for lots since the weather got colder. It’s all about nourishing the skin, and the scents that pull me through these shorter days!
Vaseline Cocoa Glow Intensive Care Spray Moisturiser* – When I saw a TV ad for this I thought it was a gimmick, surely spraying moisturiser on takes as much work as a regular lotion… but I was pleasantly proven wrong. I’ve used nothing else to moisturise my body since I tried this! It’s so quick to apply, smells like delicious cocoa, and the spray can dispenses product evenly and makes such a cool sound (don’t judge!). Most of all, I noticed that it absorbs very quickly, and how much my skin has improved since using it. No greasy legs here! Will definitely re-purchase once I run out, which will be soon as I use this every day without fail.
L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream – I’m a hand cream junkie. Every time I wash my hands, I need to apply hand cream almost immediately… it’s a little OCD of me. Needless to say, I’ve tried many, many hand creams but this one blows them all out of the water. According to L’Occitane, one of these babies is sold every three seconds around the world. So you know: this stuff is very legit. It contains 20% shea butter, as well as coconut oil, and honey and almond extracts. It’s hands down the best hand cream I’ve ever tried. This is the purse size, but I’ve gone through 3 of the large tubes – I’ve been using this for years! Super nourishing, fast absorbing, with a soft, calming scent to boot.
Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask – This lip mask seems to be one that many love to love, and others love to hate. Personally, I really enjoy it. It’s very heavy duty, so it’s one I’d save for when your lips need extra TLC, or for night time. It lasts forever on the lips – you’ll wake up with product still on them (even after all that tossing and turning), and they’ll feel very soft!
Lanolips 101 Ointment Fruities Peach – This is my first Lanolips product, and I really like it for day time as it’s easily absorbed. It’s light but provides lots of moisture; it’s glossy but looks natural – just the way I like it. Lanolips Lip Ointment is supposed to be a multi-tasking product, so feel free to try it on bites, chapped skin and cuticles.
Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask – I remember when I first purchased this and tried it, my skin just looked a little less dull, but I didn’t notice much else. I was a little bit disappointed, as this mask costs a pretty penny, but I persisted. Fast forward to a change of weather, where my skin was way too thirsty and bumpy for my liking, but I couldn’t find anything to satiate it. Enter the Aura Manuka Honey Mask. I gave this baby another go and I am so, so glad I did. It added some much needed moisture to my skin, and calmed pesky little bumps – all after a short 20 min. This Antipodes mask is my new favourite for winter! I use it twice a week. Did I mention it smells incredible?! It’s such a lovely experience all around.
Viktor & Rolf Bon Bon – Winter is as good a time as any to shower yourself in rich gourmand perfumes that smell good enough to eat. This delicious elixir comes in a beautiful pink ribbon glass bottle, and will make a statement in any room. It smells like my favourite thing EVER: sweet caramel; but it’s far from sickly. There are also notes of amber, peach, jasmine and sandalwood, which make this gourmand extremely refreshing.
YSL Black Opium – This is the latest addition to my perfume collection and it has quickly become one of my favourites. Black Opium smells like two of my favourite things EVER: caramel and coffee… can you see a pattern here? There are also notes of jasmine, pear and pink pepper. The bottle is stunning – it’s black and textured with glitter, so pretty! This perfume is very sweet and not for the faint hearted.
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle EDT – I had to include this classic! It doesn’t need much of an introduction, but for those of you who haven’t smelt it, it’s sophistication in a bottle and can be worn pretty much all year around. It’s patchouli, with bergamot, orange, jasmine, rose, and a subtle hint of vanilla. Just beautiful.
